DIET TIPS FOR OCTOBER

October - a scary month!  What a purr-fect month for dieting, right?

Yes, October can indeed be a very scary month for dieting for these reasons:

 a) The holiday season is close at hand and if you're not careful, you'll add another ten pounds to your scales AGAIN this year!

 b) Old Man Winter is also fixing to spread his icy wings and when cold weather hits, outdoor activities become limited.

c) When an individual is dieting, many times their immune system becomes very fragile.  With the cold and flu season around the bend, it could get very ugly.

What you can do:

a) Boost your Willpower and promise yourself that you won't allow Holiday goodies to rule your tummy.  Keep light canned and frozen fruits on hand and packets of dried fruit for snacking time.

b) Bring your outdoor activities indoors.  Bowling is a great, as is racketball.

c) Take your multi-vitamin, extra Vitamin C and get in calcium via skimmed milk at least 3 times per day.  

The calcium has an added benefit.  According to recent studies, people who included milk in their diet saw better weight loss results.  

In closing, let's not forget that Halloween falls during this glorious month.  So plan ahead.  Get out the old sewing machine and start working on your costume.
