DIET
TIPS FOR
JUNE
Ms. June is one hot tamale! As the
heat settles into your area, plan out your menus with light salads, sandwiches and
cold soups. Fact is, it's just too hot to weigh down your belly with greasy,
cheesy, sugary foods. The key to your diet during June should be lean and
light.
Cold
pumpkin soup is delicious! Simply add one cup of skimmed milk to 1/3 can
of pumpkin. Toss in some cinnamon, ginger, ground cloves and nutmeg if
desired. Sprinkle the top of your soup with a bit of cinnamon before dipping
in with your silver spoon.
Some
diet-wise salad items include: sliced mushrooms, bacon bits, lettuce, radishes,
tomatoes, carrots, bell peppers, hot peppers, banana peppers (pickled), drained
black beans, baby corn coblets, chopped or sliced onions, croutons, grated cheese,
lean meats, light salad dressings, raw broccoli, raw cauliflower, raw spinach,
crackers, chopped cabbage, raw squash, and certain fruits such as strawberries
which will add zing to your turkey salad. Try adding walnuts and diced
apple to your next chicken salad. Wow! That will perk up those manly
taste buds!
Try
baking your own breads for your sandwiches. Or, these Tasty
Toaster Sandwiches might
just hit the spot!
When exercising, use common sense. It's
good to exercise, it's good to lose unwanted pounds and inches, but it's bad
to fall over dead while doing such.
